The South Side is
west of the the West Twin River along Lake Michigan. It has public and
parochial schools, two parks and, a few neighborhood
businesses and houses many of our key employers.
The area's charm comes from the mature trees and
many woodlands. While the houses in this area
are older, hundreds of thousands of dollars
in rehabilitation investment by the city,
along with homeowner pride, resulted in considerable
improvement in the 1980s and 90s.
The city's sewage and water plant,
municipal garage, public library, and electric
utility offices are also located on the South Side
near the harbor.
South Siders enjoy
the cool lake effect of Lake Michigan and can find
themselves suddenly enveloped in fog as the cool,
humid lake breeze clashes with warmer air over land.
From any home on the South Side, you
are just a short walk from the Lake Michigan beach,
Woodland Dunes, a park or playground.
