The City of Two
Rivers has added a relocation section to its web
site to entice people moving to the area to consider
Two Rivers for their next home. The city is also
contacting area employers to seek their cooperation
in publicizing the site to their employees,
especially newly hired workers. Employers who are
interested should
contact the
Economic Development Department.
"Two Rivers has
so much to offer, and we want to make sure people
moving to Northeast Wisconsin know about us when
making home buying decisions,” said City Manager
Greg Buckley. “We’re going out and telling people
that we have the small-town charm so many are
looking for, and we're just a short drive to big
city life. So they can get the best of both by
living here."
Area companies
are being asked to mail a flyer to all new
employees. The flyer gives basic information about
the city and directs readers to the web site to
learn more.
A link to the flyer is available to the right.
Buckley
explained that the web site stresses the culture and
environment of the city, including the lake and
beaches, Woodland Dunes Nature Center, Point Beach
State Park, and the city’s tree-lined streets, low
crime rate, easy commuting and hometown feel. “For
someone who is used to spending 45 minutes on a
clogged freeway to drive 20 miles, a five-minute
commute to anywhere in the city is very attractive,”
said Buckley.
He said the site
has nearly 50 pictures to help illustrate what is
special about the city. “We can easily update the
site and add seasonal pictures,” Buckley added.
There are also links to more than 30 other web sites
of attractions and places of interest and to all
real estate companies in the city.
The city’s
history is also featured, including the stories
behind the ice cream sundae, SnoFest, commercial
fishing, shipwrecks, and the early days of the area.
“The site even describes the various areas of the
city, how they developed, and how they are different
from other neighborhoods,” Buckley said.
