The East Side is
where Two Rivers got its start. The
Rogers Street
Fishing Village and
French Side
Fishing Village Historic District celebrate and
document that historical period of Two Rivers'
early history. This area is dominated by mature
trees, wooded lots and water.
East Siders are lucky
to live just a short walk from three major parks, including Neshotah
park whichis considered to be one of the finest on
Wisconsin's eastern shore. It's not uncommon to be
lulled to sleep by the sound of waves and a foghorn.
The new
Two Rivers
High School is located on the East Side, as is the
Point Beach State Forest. There is healthy amount of
business including a doctor's clinic, major grocery
store, car dealers, nursing home and restaurants.
Like the South Side,
the East Side is often cooled by the Lake Effect. Older homes
dominate the housing but
new housing construction has taken place, especially
at
Sandy Bay Highlands, the city's newest
subdivision.
A large
number of the city's older residents live on the
East side, including many descendents of the
original commercial fishing industry that still
operates from this side
of town. Commercial and
residential development is expected in this area in
the near future, both in Sandy Bay Highlands and
along Highway 42 in the area of the new high school.
