Take a drive around Two Rivers and you'll think that
Mother Nature lives here! She doesn't, but she does come here often to
vacation.
Lake Michigan touches three sides of
the city. We share our northern border with Point
Beach State Forest. Woodland Dunes nature preserve
winds its way through the south side of town from Lake
Michigan to the West Twin River.

The West Twin meets the East Twin River
at our active harbor where you'll see commercial fishing tugs and sport
fishing boats heading out to ply the waters of Lake Michigan.
Neshotah Park, a popular gathering
place, provides several hundred yards of white-sand beach for swimmers,
sunbathers, volleyball players and castle builders.
Our city also stands at the junction of two of the
state's most scenic bicycle trails. On the 5-mile Mariner's Trail, you can
ride north from Manitowoc in the lake's cooling breezes, just a few yards
from the water. |
|
Continue through Two Rivers and you pick up the Rawley
Point Trail, which winds six miles through the pine and hemlock forest,
all the way to the historic Rawley Point Lighthouse at Point Beach State
Park.

Our professional, full-time police and fire/paramedic services protect
and serve our citizens with an emphasis on proactive community service.
The Police Department has a staff of 26 full-time officers. We have an active Crime Stoppers program, bicycle
patrols, school liaison program, crime prevention committee, and a Junior
Police Academy. Our popular Citizen's Academy has been copied throughout
the country and has expanded to include many city departments, including
the fire department, to give residents hands-on experience in local
government.
Our fire department operates out of a new headquarters centrally
located for optimum response times to all locations in the city from our
new local hospital on one edge of town to our new high school on the
other. The Fire Department provides both fire and paramedic/ambulance
service with a staff of 19 full-time officers (18
paramedics) and 15 "paid-on-call"
personnel.
The fire insurance is Class 4 within the city and Class 8 outside the
city.
